Designers of synchronous buck dc-to-dc converters have in the new IRF7901D1 N-channel dual FETKY a device that can help them develop compact, high-efficiency converters capable of delivering voltages as low as 1V. Integrating a high-side control FET, low-side synchronous FET, and parallel Schottky diodes in a singleSO-8 package, the 30V device can achieve up to 87% efficiency for applications requiring up to 5A at 1V output. It also helps lower component count and pc board real estate requirements versus designs using separate discrete devices.
In addition, by internally connecting the power components, the IRF7901D1 significantly reduces the stray inductance that would occur in a discrete solution. The device also offers source and gate pins, reducing control loop inductance for improved gate drive. Price: $0.65 each/100K. Samples and a design kit are available, with production quantities available in the fall.
