Functioning as a cable-to-board I/O system, the LaneLink 4X and 12X connectors are optimized for differential signaling at 2.5 Gbits/s per pair. They support the InfiniBand 4X and 12X link technology for the server industry. The pc-board receptacle, which has a die-cast frame featuring unitary latch post and screw attachment to the pc-board, provides isolation of cable loads from the surface-mount solder tails. The cable wire terminates directly to the plug contacts, eliminating the need for an interposer and improving signal integrity. A wire guide and strain relief captures individual wires and attaches to the ground contacts, isolating cable movement from the wire termination. Pinch-to-release latch levers provide positive latch opening prior to unmating cable. The LaneLink 4X and 12X receptacles cost $4.95 and $7.00 each, respectively, in 25,000-unit quantities.
