cPCI Enclosures Take Aim At Telecomm Apps

March 1, 2001

Designed to meet NEBS Level 3 requirements for use in telecomm and service provider applications, these CompactPCI enclosures solve overheating problems by using the company's air deflecting CoolSlot card guides. The guides are designed to eliminate cooling dead spots on boards and provide more uniform airflow throughout the system.
The enclosures are 13U high and have a Sun configured, 8-slot, high-availability cPCI backplane that has left-hand dual system slots with a 4HP left extension. Power is provided by triple redundant 400W front-access, hot-swappable supplies with front to rear cooling. An optional alarm card mounted in the rear is programmable via a PICMG 2.9 System Management interface.
A 6U, 8HP front carrier with shuttles for two hot-swap LVD SCSI SCA hard drives is also provided, as well as an 8HP dual SCSI SCA hard drive carrier and a 16HP front carrier for fixed-mounting of a CD/hard drive/floppy drive. Pricing starts at $8,500 each, with delivery 6-8 weeks ARO.
