The MINIPAK HD, described and introduced as a power-supply output connector for meeting the requirements and restrictions of the MicroTCA standard, carries somewhat more than 300A of current and manages to squeeze 72 signal contacts into a space measuring a mere 65 mm x 27 mm. By way of an established telecommunication-industry contact design, the connector delivers an approximate current density exceeding 200A per square inch while meeting the Telcordia requirements for long term reliability. The connector is available in a compliant press-fit vertical receptacle and a right angle plug, with the latter available with press-fit or solder tails to accommodate boards from 0.062" to 0.093" thick. All are RoHS compliant. Prices for the right angle plug and vertical receptacle are $7.56 and $7.55 each/1,000, respectively.TYCO ELECTRONICS, Harrisburg, PA. (800) 522-6752.
