An 0805 chip version of the firm’s SurgX polymer ESD suppression products is some 45% smaller than the 1206 version currently available. It also takes up about 55% less board space than an SOT-23 package, which is a popular housing for suppression diodes. The SurgX products are designed to protect sensitive circuits from the threat of ESD damage. They react almost instantly to transient voltages and clamp them below 60V, which means less voltage stress during the clamp period and greater IC protection. The nature of the polymer-based material used in the devices results in a bi-directional part, enabling one device to provide complete ESD protection regardless of the surge polarity. Parts are available in reels of 5000.
