Offered has one of the industry's first practical examples of remote Internet technology, a new collaborative testing and experimentation platform for electric motor and power systems can be operated in real-time over the Internet using standard Web browsers. This platform allows for fully interactive control of actual hardware.
The platform is modular in design and is said to be easily configured to conduct contract product development with testing specific to a particular user's needs. At the local site, the graphical user interface to the experimentation platform allows the local user to provide input using a mouse and keyboard and then presents data output from the experiment. A command processor responds to incoming commands and updates both local and remote graphical-interface panels.
The remote site can be physically located wherever there is an available Web or Intranet connection.
