The DS802 PHS (Peripheral High-Speed) Link Board provides new modular and flexible options for setting up real-time systems with a PHS bus. The link board enables developers of real-time PHS-bus systems to use I/O boards in expansion boxes that have no processor board of their own. Up to now, each expansion box had to have its own processor board. The board ensures that all I/O boards appear to the processor board to be in one big system, whether they are actually located in the master or in a slave. So the entire distributed system requires only one of the company’s processor boards in the master system; the DS802 PHS Link Board handles communication between the master system and the slave systems via optical links. This setup is convenient for all applications that do not require the computing power of a processor board in every expansion box. A typical application of the DS802 PHS Link Board is to add and/or remove a simulator’s slave systems in response to changing tasks. For example, slave systems can be replaced within one simulator or exchanged between simulators, ensuring optimal utilization. Each slave system can be up to 100 meters away from its master system. Thus, even if there are several electronic control units (ECUs) standing at a distance from one another, the I/O boards of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulators can be arranged optimally with minimized electric cable lengths. dSPACE INC., Wixom, MI.
