A miniature 3-A, SIP model has been added to the Okami family of non-isolated point-of-load (PoL) DC-DC converters. The OKR-T/3-W12-C is well suited for designs that require a wide input voltage range and high efficiency in limited board space. Typical applications include datacom routers and servers, LED signage, POS systems, and power amplifiers. The OKR-T/3-W12-C has an input voltage range of 4.5 VDC to 14 VDC (12 VDC nominal), and a programmable output voltage from 0.591 VDC to 6.0 VDC. Overall dimensions are 0.41 in. x 0.65 in. x 0.40 in. The converter achieves outstanding thermal derating performance, power conversion efficiency of 93%, and is capable of driving ceramic capacitive loads up to 200 µF. Based on 600-kHz synchronous buck topology, the OKR-T/3-W12-C also includes programmable output voltage and on/off control, under-voltage lockout, and over-current and over-temperature protection. The new converters are designed to meet all standard UL/EN/IEC 60950-1 safety and FCC EMI/RFI emissions and RoHS-6 hazardous substance compliance. In high-volume quantities, the OKR-T/3 model is in the low $3 range. Lead time is six to eight weeks. MURATA POWER SOLUTIONS, Mansfield, MA. (508) 339-3000.
