PC/104 Module Supports Eight Serial Ports

Addressing users requiring a large number of serial I/O ports, the RoHS-compliant PCM-COM8-G PC/104 module provides eight serial ports, each of which supports RS-232, RS-485, and RS-422. The board operates in systems running Windows CE/XP embedded, Linux, QNX, VxWorks, and DOS over the full industrial temperature range from -40°C to +85°C. It employs a 16C854 serial communications controller, said to be an improved version of the 16C554 UART with higher operating speed and lower access time. Employing transceivers that generate plus and minus voltages on chip, the board requires just +5V for operation. Additionally, the transceiver chips provide 15 kV of ESD protection.
