Designed to be installed with standard pick-and-place equipment, Gore-Shield SMT gaskets are said to significantly decrease the total cost of EMI shielding in cell phones and other wireless infrastructure systems. The EMI shielding gaskets are constructed of the firm’s GS5200 material, which is a nickel-filled, expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE).Rather than a continuous bead, the gaskets are a series of small GS5200 pads with a solderable shim attached. They’re packaged in EIA-standard tape-and-reel format, making the gaskets a standard pc board component. The gaskets come in 5.5, 8 and 12 mm lengths with widths of 1.25 mm and 1.1 mm.
