Because the PA756-68 programming adapter converts the pinout of the 68-pin PLCC PIC17C756 to the footprint of a 40-pin DIP PIC17C44, it allows the user to utilize the equipment they already own to program the PIC17C756, thereby cutting costs. The user simply sets the programmer for the PIC17C44, plugs in the adapter, and programs the PIC17C756. The adapter makes the proper connections. It has a 68-pin auto-eject socket and a 40-pin, 0.6" wide DIP plug populated with 0.025" square pins. All pins are gold and the socket and circuit board are modular, making it easy to replace them.
