Claimed as the most integrated RF synthesizer available for ISM-band applications, the Si4136 reduces the number of external components required to implement a complete synthesizer solution, lowering required board space by as much as 60%. The single-chip solution operates in the 2.0 to 2.6 GHz range and is suited for ISM band applications such as IEEE 802-11-standard wireless LANs, wireless modems, wireless headsets, cordless phones, and security systems. The chip provides a complete CMOS RF synthesizer in a single, low-profile, small outline 24-pin package. The device integrates RF and IF voltage-controlled oscillators, loop filters, reference and VCO dividers and phase detectors. Pricing for the chip is $7.00 each/10,000. An evaluation board, the Si4136-EVB, is also available for $150.
