New surface-mount transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode modules developed by ProTek Devices feature a low profile that suits them for densely populated printed-circuit boards (PCBs) and a host of other applications. The two-lead DFN packaging used for the SM3KWxxA and SM5KWxxA series modules measures 6.5 by 5.5 by 1.2 mm and 7.7 by 6.6 by 1.2 mm, respectively. By providing 3000 W of peak pulse power dissipation for a 10/1000-µs waveform, the 24-V SM3KWxxA offers sufficient protection for tertiary-type lightning threats at key interface locations. The SM5KWxxA series has three models: 10-V SM5KW10A, 33-V SM5KW33A, and 36-V SM5KW36A. Each is rated at 5000-W peak pulse power using the 10/1000-µs surge waveform and 28,000 W for the 8/20-µs waveform (sufficient for tertiary-type lightning threats). Both series feature unidirectional configuration, and are RoHS- and REACH-compliant.
