Designed in ceramic packages with glass lenses to minimize crosstalk, the SME2470 discrete surface-mount infrared (IR) component can also eliminate the need for apertures in non-critical applications. Members of the firm's SME/SDM Series, the components may be mounted lens-up or inverted on the pc board, allowing more flexibility for multiple channel and custom IR arrays. The device is an AlGaAs infrared diode that supplies optimum optical characteristics and efficient optical coupling. It can be used with either the SMD2440 Series phototransistor, useful in applications requiring high responsivity, or the SMD2420 Series photodiode, useful in applications requiring linear response or high switching speed.
