Embedded: Low-Power, 8-Bit IR Remote Control Incorporates Learning Function
March 16, 2006
The 8-bit, Z8-based, Crimzon ZLP12840 microcontroller targets infrared (IR) remote applications. Its on-chip learning mode allows it to copy the output of other remote control units so it can act as a universal remote. A built-in IR amplifier reduces external bill-of materials (BOM). It can capture carrier frequencies up to 1 MHz and transmit up to 4 MHz. The ZLP12840 is a one-time programmable device. Pricing starts at $2.66 with memory sizes from 32 to 128 kbytes. Priced at $1248, the development kit includes an incircuit emulator debugger, development board, and software.
