T1/E1 Magnetic Module Comes With Protection Features

May 1, 2000

In conjunction with Level One Communications, the company has introduced a high-density, low-profile surface-mount module for T1/E1 applications. The T9030 transformer module includes over-voltage protection and will interface with Level One's LXT384, Octal T1/E1 line-interface units. The module integrates eight sidactors for primary protection, eight common mode chokes for EMI filtering, and eight transformers for equipment isolation functions to comply with the latest American and European standards for T1/E1 short-haul applications. And the transformer is said to offer the industry's highest level of front-end physical layer interfacing in telecomm network voltage (TNV) networks. It also offers savings in real estate: up to 50% (4.65 in.2) of board space is saved per every eight ports.
