The Tiger-6U-cPCI CompactPCI board integrates eight 250-MHz TigerSharc DSPs and up to 1024 Mbytes of SDRAM. Total DSP processing power can be boosted to 24 GFLOPS by adding two of the company's Tiger-PMC+ modules to the board. The board also features a 64-bit, 66-MHz PCI interface via the SharcFIN ASIC, a Xilinx Virtex-II FPGA, and two PMC interfaces with I/O connections that go directly to the DSPs. It provides 12 GFLOPS of sustained processing power and over 5 Gbytes/s of I/O bandwidth. Typical power consumption is only 20 W, yielding a power-to-performance ratio higher than competitive products. The board's eight DSPs are arranged in two four-unit clusters. Each cluster is connected by a local bus, which also connects a 256-Mbyte bank of SDRAM per cluster. A third global bank of up to 512 Mbytes of SDRAM is shared between the two DSP clusters via the local PCI bus. This bus is split into three 64-bit, 66-MHz segments, providing over 1.5 Gbytes/s of simultaneous data transfer. Fully compatible with Analog Devices' VisualDSP++ code development tools, the board also supports in-circuit emulation. The Tiger-6U-cPCI, shipping now, starts at $13,950 each.
