The X3015P point-of-load (POL) converter, which delivers 15 A from a 10- by 12-mm footprint, provides a current density of over 80 A/in.2 and operates with a wide input-voltage range of 3.0 to 6.0 V dc. Its programmable output ranges from 0.75 to 4.0 V dc. Housed in a semiconductor LGA package, the converter's 1.5-mm height allows mounting on the bottom side of a host pc board. This non-isolated POL integrates 22 power semiconductor and passive components. Its minimal external component requirements enable a parts reduction of over 90% compared with discrete solutions. The X3015P POL converter costs $7 each in 10,000-unit lots.
