Modem IC Performs Automatic Handshake

March 1, 1999

All the synchronous data pump functions required to implement a V.23/V.22bis/V.29 data modem, as well as automatic handshaking for all data modes, are included on the 73M2921 modem IC. The single-chip device comprises a DSP core with integrated RAM and ROM data memory and codec to minimize external parts. The modem operates at several popular data and facsimile speeds up to 9600 bps (V.29) and provides MCU, data and analog interface functions, as well as containing an on-board oscillator. It's optimized for low-power applications and is designed for both 3.3V and 5V systems.
