Well-suited for use in portable products and for panel-mounted products that require long-life LED backlighting, the expanded S-Series line of low-power, transflective LCDs are sunlight readable. Good contrast is said to be achieved as high ambient light is reflected off the rear substrate of the compact displays. Each display also includes long-life LED backlighting for low to medium ambient lighting conditions. Display pixel resolutions range from 119 x 73 to 320 x 240. Display pixel resolutions include an on-board LCD controller IC and come in either STN or FSTN fluid technologies. Several models are available with extended temperature fluids for applications requiring a wide operating temperature range.The yellow-green LED backlights are rated for a typical 50,000-hour life and do not require a dc/ac inverter. Backlighting type varies by model, including: back-lit array, edge-lit, and fiber-optic LED.
