With the PanelLink digital transmitter and receiver chips, designers can create scaleable, 24-bit, all-digital links between computers and flat-panel monitors at resolutions from 640 x 480 pixels (VGA) to 1280 x 1024 pixels (SXGA). The components conform to the Panel-Link Digital standard, which is said to assure cross-platform, cross-display compatibility with other conforming products, such as the Compaq Presario computer and monitor and others.Computer and video-card makers looking to design a standardized digital video output port can integrate the SiI 150 universal transmitter IC onto their motherboard or video card. The CMOS chip uses TMDS signaling over three twisted-pair or fiber data channels and one clock channel and accommodates operating frequencies from 25 MHz (for VGA) to 112 MHz (for SXGA). Display makers can use the SiI 151 receiver chip to automatically detect when interconnect media has been connected or disconnected; and it also can sync up to any TMDS signal. Both chips are available now.
