Gbit Interface Converter Has Signal Detect Feature

June 1, 1999

Equipped with signal detect and in-rush current limiting capabilities is the blind mate, hot-pluggable Active Copper Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC), which is fully compliant with GBIC spec Rev. 5.1. The signal detect feature provides enhanced performance in applications where low receiver sensitivity makes noise and issue. The 20-position, SCA-2 pc board interface meets GBIC spec 4.5. The six-position HSSDC I/O connector is documented by the Fibre Channel Ph-3 spec. Connections via copper HSSDC cables are supported for distances up to 30 meters. Applications are found in clustered workstations, servers, hubs and switches.
