The multiple functions required to filter and protect Universal Serial Bus (USB) and keyboard/mouse controllers from destructive ESD pulses are implemented by the PAC KBMU integrated passive device. One PAC KBMU device provides complete ESD protection, EMI filtering, passive pull-up and impedance matching for all eight incoming and outgoing signal lines that serve both of the controllers. By incorporating the unit during initial board layout, designers achieve complete filtering and protection for two separate controllers with one 24-pin QSOP. It displaces as many as 28 discrete components.
