PowerPC Seeks Embedded Uses

Operating at speeds up to 266 MHz, the MPC8240 processor combines a PowerPC 603e core, an advanced memory controller, and a 32-bit PCI interface. With its high level of integration, the processor replaces five discrete chips to reduce system component count, simplify board design, and reduce power consumption. The 32-bit super-scalar core high-performance processor with floating point, memory management, 16-kbyte instruction and data caches, and cache locking.
