User-Programmable Chip Adapters Hasten Prototyping

Aug. 1, 1999

Constructed of UL94V-0 rated FR-4 plastic and using the firm’s standard collet contacts as the socket pins, Program-Your-Own Correct-A-Chip adapters enable users to create small quantities of prototype adapters quickly and at low cost by simply cutting and jumpering leads. The adapters enable the use of existing pc board layouts with upgraded ICs by converting DIP, PLCC, PGA, SOIC, BGA and other device packages and emulators to fit a different DIP footprint. The adapters let users avoid costly tooling and setup charges. Users, or the factory, can easily cut, jumper and solder the adapters to the desired configuration. The adapters are terminated in a 0.300” center DIP configuration with 28 pins, but can easily be cut down to any pin count from two to 28. All top-to-bottom pin connections are easily cut and jumpered to connect any pin to any other.
