Four-Channel ADC Dissipates Little Power

Jan. 1, 2000

Low power, high speed and an on-board multiplexer and parallel interface makes the 4-channel, 12-bit ADS7842 sampling A/D converter well-suited for battery-operated systems, such as portable, multi-channel data loggers and measurement equipment, as well as industrial process control and medical instrumentation applications. Specified at a 200-kHz sampling rate while dissipating only 2 mW, the chip converts an analog input into a digital signal used by a microprocessor. The reference voltage can be varied from 100 mV to VCC with a corresponding LSB resolution of from 24 µV to 1.22 mV. And operation is guaranteed down to 2.7V.
