Connector Offers Cost-Effective Solution For Fibre Channel Apps

Claiming to provide a cost-effective attachment method for Fibre Channel disk drives in storage arrays, the FCN-244 series surface-mount connector interfaces Fibre Channel disk drives directly to a backplane system or motherboard. The 40-position, 0.05" pitch connector consists of a surface-mount, straddle-mount plug and a vertical-mount socket that meets ANSI's T-11 FC-AL standard.
Gold-plated bellows contacts with three-stage sequential mating are provided to accomodate hot swapping. The connector is self aligning, features ESD grounding, and is constructed of UL94V-0 high-temperature polyester, which is IR reflow-solder compatible. Available with five different lead lengths, the connector has a current rating of 1A and a voltage rating of 240 vac. Its operating temperature range is -55°C to 105°C. Pricing is $1.95 each/10,000.
