Pressfit-Style PC/104 Plus Connector Eliminates Hand Or Reflow Soldering

Sept. 1, 2000

The pressfit version of the PC/104 Plus stacking connector eliminates the need to hand or reflow solder the 120 long-tail pins to the circuit board. The connector is a 2-mm pitch module consisting of four rows of 30 positions in the J3 location of a PC/104 board. Fast pressfit insertion is achieved by means of a flat-rock-style upper tool pressing the connector into the standard plated-through-holes, which are placed on a simple bottom support fixture.
