Designed for space-limited and portable applications, the new NDL05 series of 2W dc-to-dc converters is well-suited for designs requiring non-standard voltages or where voltages can fluctuate with time. The devices are supplied in miniature 8-pin SIP packages with dimensions of just 21.8 x 11.1 x 9.2 mm. And they can accept 4.5V to 9V and deliver single-ended outputs of 5V, 9V, 12V and 15V. The new converters also offer 1 kVDC of galvanic isolation as standard and guarantee full 2W of power at temperatures ranging from -40 to +85°C. This helps designers reduce board space and component count by eliminating the need for external cooling in applications that are designed to operate within the full industrial temperature range. NDL05 series converters combine SMT construction and ceramic rather than electrolytic or tantalum capacitors with a copper-on-ceramic substrate and a tough chip and wire-bonded MOSFET power transistor die to ensure high levels of reliability. And an advanced toroidal magnetic design delivers high efficiency and minimum EMI emissions. The devices are fully encapsulated in UL 94V-0-rated packaging and cost under $14.37 each for quantities greater than 2,500 pieces.
