Designed to meet the straightforward operational and reliability requirements for today’s Internet/intranet server applications, the IPC-601 rack-mount server allows up to 42 servers to be racked in one 42U cabinet. The IPC-601 is a thin unit, useful for applications such as ISPs, ASPs, e-mail servers, and web servers. The server’s backplane accommodates both a full-size CPU card in its PICMG compliant slot and expansion options in its PCI slot. CPU card options for the server include the company’s PCA-6178 Pentium III single board computer, which supports up to 768 MB of system memory. More processing power is provided by the PCA-6276, which includes two FC-PGA Pentium III processors and supports up to 1 GB of system memory. HDD slots can accommodate ATA hard drives, or with the addition of the optional SCA midplane, up to three SCA SCSI drives. Priced at $650, the IPC-601 supports Windows NT, 2000, Linux, Sun Solaris, Open Server, OS/2, and NetWare.
