Evaluation kits for the company's three Bluetooth modules allow engineers to prepare development environments for evaluating the modules in their designs. The kits include one of the Bluetooth modules mounted on an evaluation board, a technical manual, a Host Control Interface (HCI) command tool that allows direct control of the module's HCI software from an external PC, and a UART interface for RS-232 communications.
The modules are based on the SiW chipset developed by Silicon Wave Inc. Manufactured using a silicon-on-insulator BiCMOS process, the single-chip radio modem employs direct conversion demodulation techniques to achieve high isolation and low switching loss and to reduce the number of subcomponents, such as LC filters, needed. Pricing for the evaluation kits is $2,000.
