CFD Thermal Analysis Software Adds Hybrid Meshing Tool

Claimed to be a first for computational fluid dynamic (CFD) software, Coolit thermal analysis software is now available with a hybrid meshing tool that delivers the geometric flexibility of unstructured grids without their negatives of slow convergence and poor stability. The tool handles non-rectangular objects automatically, permitting users to build realistic and accurate models of complex geometries. Solver performance of Coolit v4.0 is said to be up to 30% faster due to improvements in the solution algorithms.The software also incorporates several new features that enhance ease-of-use and analysis flexibility. And in addition to imports from major CAD software, Coolit can also import board geometry and components from IDF files. In fact, users can now import specific components into the program without transferring entire assemblies, thus eliminating unnecessary editing when modifying designs. Version 4.0 allows users to define subsystems that can be modeled with finer details and grids after the main system has been computed. And visualization enhancements provide better animation of streamlines. The Windows-based package costs $16,000 for an annual floating license.
