Designed to meet the demands for localized, spot power in low-power, space-constrained designs, the NKE0303S is claimed to be the industryÕs smallest isolated 1W dc/dc converter available for power schemes requiring 3V input and output. The device is supplied in subminiature SIP packages with industry-standard pinouts and a board-mounting footprint of just 0.69 cm2. Power density is rated at 1.95 W/cm3. Operating at efficiency levels of up to 82%, the new converter provides 3 kVdc isolation between input and output and have a MTBF rated at 2.9 million hours. A key feature of the new device is that it can deliver its full 1W performance across a wide temperature range of Ð40¡C to 85¡C without the need for a heatsink, further helping to reduce pc-board space and component count. The NKE0303S converters are supplied in fully encapsulated UL 94V-0 rated packaging and combine an internal SMD design with multilayer ceramic capacitors rather than electrolytics or tantalums. Pricing is $5.76 each/1,000. C&D TECHNOLOGIES INC., Raleigh, NC. (919) 571-9405.
