Chassis Supports Multiple System Architectures

Aug. 1, 2002

The S34 system platform is offered in CompactPCI, cPCI 2.16 and VME64x architectures and targets tele/datacom, military/COTS, test and process control, and other related applications. Claimed as having advanced power, cooling and monitoring capabilities, the S34 is well-suited for rack-mount as well as bench-top applications. It features the company’s Bus-Neutral Design, a concept focusing on common cooling, power, monitoring and chassis elements to provide a uniform packaging environment regardless of bus structure. This lets companies standardize on one primary design to support a multitude of programs, from general computing to the latest Ethernet-based, packet-switched backplane systems. Three individual hot-swap fan modules effectively distribute airflow throughout the chassis for high-capacity cooling of up to 50W per slot. Backplane size ranges from eight to 21 slots. This includes the company’s ULP rear bridging for CompactPCI, which allows rear I/O board access to all slots. Pricing starts at $3,695 for CompactPCI, and $4,255 for VME64x.
