Serial Device Servers Take Novel Approaches

Oct. 1, 2002

Boasting of a unique approach to installation and programming, the company’s serial device servers are said to be easily configured and maintained by novice users. For applications that rely on RS-232 or RS-422/485 equipment that cannot be directly connected to Ethernet networks, the servers provide multiple serial ports. These ports are configured as COM ports on a PC, allowing them to be connected to an Ethernet network and controlled and monitored remotely. The servers employ 32-bit communication processors with on-board web servers that can be accessed via a standard web browser. They are available with one, two, four, eight, and 16 ports for RS-232 and RS-422/485 with a combination of DB-9 and RJ-45 ports. And support is via Windows 2000/XP. QUATECH INC., Akron, OH.
