High-Reliability IDE RAID Storage Resides On cPCI Blade

Dec. 1, 2002

A 6U cPCI plug-in card, the IC6M is equipped with two fully redundant hot-swappable 40 GB hard disk drives in a RAID1 mirrored configuration. Targeted to meet the requirements of high availability computing, the IC6M provides hot swappability and automatic data rebuild transparent to the platform operating system and application software. Health status signalling is reported via a PICMG 2.9-compliant IPMI interface. The IDE-based subsystem operates through the cPCI bus using the on-board IDE controller or as an IDE peripheral through the system IDE host via a J5 connector. Simple installation, small size, and use of a single-slot eliminates external drive mounting brackets and cabling, thereby reducing the complexity of OEM compliance qualification. A rear transition module is available to connect J5 through the backplane. OEM pricing for a 40 GB mirror RAID is $1,600. ADTRON, Phoenix, AZ. (602) 735-0300.
