Built around a 33-MHz, 186-compatible processor, the Flashlite 186 single-board computer offers at a price of $69 a means for building low-cost data acquisition, industrial control, communications, and other DOS-based embedded systems. The SBC comes pre-loaded with royalty-free DOS and packs 44 configurable digital I/O lines, 512K both of DRAM and flash, two serial ports, and a console/debug port that leaves both serial ports free for user's applications. Other on-board features include a 7-34 Vdc voltage regulator, two 16-bit timers, a watchdog timer, and a socket for expanding the card's non-volatile memory with a M-Systems DiskOnChip. Flashlite 186 also supports the addition of LCDs, keypads, 12-bit A/D channels, relay outputs, optically-isolated inputs, or high-current drivers. A development kit is also available for $99.
