Measuring only 0.90"L x 2.30"W x 0.39"H, the Eagle series of DC/DC converters registers a power density of 93W per cubic inch, with the eighth-brick converters capable of delivering 25A at efficiencies as high as 91%. The supplies can handle inputs ranging from 36 to 75 Vdc in accordance with ETSI and Bellcore specs and offer a direct plug-in to existing quarter-brick applications at only 60% the size of their predecessors, enabling adaptation to multiple footprints on a board. Eagle converters also boast of fully rated output current performance without derating in typical operating environments of 50°C and 300 LFM. And in addition to industry standard features, such as remote on/off, remote sensing, and over-temperature, over-current and over-voltage protection, the new DC/DC converters also feature, among other things, self-contained bias circuitry that is said to eliminate race conditions and constant-frequency operation for predictable EMI characteristics. Eagle converters come in 5V, 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.8V, 1.5V and 1.2V output models and cost $42 each/1,000. For more details, contact Mike Wagner at CHEROKEE INTERNATIONAL, Tustin, CA. (714) 508-2071.
