A new phase-locked frequency synthesizer is suited for use as a fundamental L.O. source in digital radio transceivers. Supplied as a fixed-frequency or serially-programmable precision oscillator, the VCO-based LT-series product covers the frequency range, in bands, from 200 MHz to greater than 8 GHz. This synthesizer utilizes external frequency references for high stability, and exhibits low phase noise characteristics. The LT-series synthesizer is supplied with internal regulators, internal buffer amplifiers, and typically operates over a temperature range of –30°C to +70°C. An aluminum enclosure measures 1.3" x 1.1" x 0.3", excluding glass-bead pin connectors. Glass bead connectors can be preformed so the synthesizer can be mounted directly onto a printed circuit board.
