Exploiting Amkor Technology’s ExposedPad LQFP packaging technology, the RM7000 64-bit MIPS processors promise a seamless, pin- and footprint-compatible upgrade from RM5200 devices. This upgrade provides a speed increase from 250 MHz to over 600 MHz and the addition of L2 cache without board and platform changes. Additionally, the ExposedPad technology is said to increase thermal performance by up to 60%. The RM7035C provides speeds of 466, 533 and 600 MHz and includes a 32-bit SysAD bus interface. Depending on speed, prices range from $15 to $75 each/10,000. PMC SIERRA, Santa Clara, CA. (604) 415-6065.
