Promising lower design costs and faster times to market, the ETX-VE single-board computer (SBC) module acts like a component that plugs into an application-specific baseboard, providing the core CPU and memory subsystems. The SBC employs VIA Technologies' Twister-T chipset and VIA Eden and C3 processors operating up to 800 MHz. Other features of the module include LVDS flat panel support, 10/100 BaseT Ethernet, sound, 2x EIDE (UDMA-100), four USB ports, and all standard PC interfaces. The module connects to the rest of the embedded system through high-density, low profile surface-mount connectors that carry both ISA and PCI signals and dedicated I/O interfaces. Price is $356 each/100. For further information, contact Jennifer Hanson at KONTRON, San Diego, CA. (858) 677-0877.
