A new 2U high, PCI rack-mount enclosure has been developed that combines rugged construction with large storage capacity. To help it withstand high levels of shock and vibration in rough environments, the enclosure is built using, among other things, reinforced corners, power supply hold-downs, flush-mount LEDs, and tightly secured cables. The spaceous interior, in turn, provides housing for up to six hot-swappable 3.5" drives and two 5.25" drives, while the enclosure's vertically-mounted backplane can support a PICMG-based single-board computer and up to four full-length PCI boards. The enclosure also comes with a 320W ATX-style supply having 5V, 3.3V, 12V and -12V outputs and two cooling fans. The 2U passive backplane enclosure is priced at $795.
