Introduced as the industry's smallest, the TFBS4711 infrared transceiver measures 3.1 mm x 6 mm and 1.9 mm in height, said to represent a 15% reduction in length compared to similar SIR devices. Designed for short-range communication, the transceiver's 1.9-mm height allows it to be installed on either side of the circuit board. Its 6-mm length, in conjunction with a six-pin interface, is said to simplify the task of finding space for connectors, buttons, antennas, and displays within the end product. Price for the TFBS4711 infrared transceiver is below $0.90 each/500,000. For further information, call David Ojeda at VISHAY INTERTECHNOLOGY INC., Malvern, PA. (408) 567-8347.
