Meeting the density requirements of SRAM-based FPGAs with up to four million gates, the AT17F16 in-system programmable FPGA configuration IC integrates 16 Mb of memory in an eight-pin LAP measuring 36 mm2. The chip accommodates FPGAs that include the Virtex XCV4000, Stratix EP1SGX40, and Apex EP20K1500E devices. When used with lower density FPGAs, the memory not required for configuration data may be used as general-purpose, non-volatile data storage. The device is also available in a 44-pin version that can replace pin-compatible OTP XC17V16 configuration memories on existing boards. Other features include a 33 Mb/s transfer rate, page-select pin options for storing different versions of the FPGA bit stream, a two-wire protocol, and operation at 3.3V.
