Aiding designers of flyback topology ac/dc power-supply circuits, the IRISMPS4 reference design employs the company's IRIS4009 ac/dc switcher as the main switch and control device. The IRIS4009 combines a control IC and a HEXFET power MOSFET in a single 5-pin package. Comparable to a discrete topology, the device claims to reduce part count and board space by 25%. In essence, the reference design yields a supply with a universal ac input and a 15 Vdc/4A, full-load output. Single-unit price is $245.
