A new self-retaining LED mount has been designed to work with lead-free and RoHS-compliant electronic products. The SRM series LED mount, molded from a new UL-rated 94V-O nylon, provides a lead-free material per Directive 2002/95/EC for Reduction of Hazardous Substances. This mount is effective for assembly problems where stress on LED leads is typically a problem during LED installation onto printed circuit boards. Leads are guided through dividers within the mount to prevent possible shorting. The SRM series LED mount accepts T-1, T-1 3/4 and rectangular LED devices, and comes in 18 elevations from 0.100" to 0.520", ensuring a fixture capable of precision-controlled device elevation and perpendicular installation for optimum LED illumination where intended. Integrally molded standoffs are useful when accumulating process residues need to be removed during assembly. Additionally, they facilitate solder joint inspection by raising the mounted LED away from the solder joint. Pricing starts at $0.02 ea. BIVAR INC., Irvine, CA. (949) 951-8808.
