The CBC3225-4R7MR makes its mark as the industry’s first wire-wound chip inductor in an EIA standard 1210 case size with a 1A current rating. Designed for space-critical dc/dc converter choke coil applications in portables, the 4.7-µH inductor measures 3.2 mm x 2.5 mm. This is said to represent a near 70% surface-area reduction when compared to similar-rated power inductors that typically require up to 5 mm x 5 mm of board real estate. The component is the latest addition to CBC3225 series, which includes inductor values from 1 µH to 100 µH and current ratings from 270 mA to 1.44A. Sample price for the CBC3225-4R7MR is $0.15 each.
