Promising to reduce the time spent designing, testing, and deploying PCI Express-based networking and communications equipment, the Double Espresso IXP2350 PCI Express board teams with the company's Packet Processing Language (PPL) software to form a complete development platform. The board is said to be the first to combine two Intel IXP2350 network processors with a PCI Express interface. Each processor is supported with 640 MB of DDR DRAM and an additional 8 MB of external QDR-II SRAM. The processors can be configured to operate as ingress/egress, pipelined, or as independent subsystems. Other board features include four 10/100/1000 Base-T data-plane Ethernet interfaces and two 10/100 Base-T management/console Ethernet ports. Single-unit price for the IXP2350 is $3,175. Yearly subscriptions for the PPL software start at $48,000. IP FABRICS INC., Beaverton, OR. (503) 444-2400.
