The Smart Fan family of fans employs intelligent methods to control speeds according to ambient temperatures. They feature a variety of sensor technologies within the fan housing, including thermistors, Hall effect sensors, and chip-on-board thermal controllers. Available in sizes from 40 mm x 40 mm x 15 mm up to 120 mm x120 mm x 38 mm, the fans come standard with a linear ramp control with two temperature set points (no limit). An optional switch function also provides programmable temperature-based control for turn-on/turn-off, such as turning off when temperature falls to 35°C. Other options include delay start that allows hot swapping, ramp start to prevent inrush currents, current limiting, and fan-speed limitation. Prices start at $4 each in volume quantities.
