Described as a unique memory device with mass integration of mixed-signal and nonvolatile memory functions, the DS28DG02 forecasts a 20% savings in PCB space and a 30% savings in costs. The device packs a 2-KB EEPROM array; 12 bidirectional, user-programmable GPIOs configurable as input, output, open drain, or push-pull; a real-time clock providing a BCD format clock/calendar with programmable time/calendar alarm; and a programmable supervisory function that actively monitors backup-battery condition. Other supervisory functions include a voltage monitor and watchdog timer, both with reset outputs. The voltage monitor is pre-programmed to generate a 328-ms reset at 3.3V, -5% with 2.5% accuracy over the operating range. The monitor's reset can also substitute as a pushbutton I/O with debounce and the watchdog is programmable with timeout options ranging from 0.2s to 1.64s. For applications requiring a serial number, the chip provides a unique factory-programmed 64-bit ROM ID. Available in 28-pin TSSOP and 36-pin TQFN packages, pricing starts at $1.81 each/1,000.
